The Perfect Eyes

We all struggle to try and figure out the right cosmetics, because in the end not every product is right for every person - so there is a lot of trial and error.

CREAM or POWDER EYE SHADOW?

CREAM is for a subtle sheer look (especially during the day). Use a cream shadow applied with your finger. To make sure it lasts, apply the shadow, then apply a light translucent powder (make sure it is a "translucent powder). To finish the look, apply another coat of cream shadow with your finger.

POWDER has a more dramatic affect. When applying we recommend that you apply moisturizer first, then apply the powder shadow. This process helps it stay in place all night. The powder has something to cling to, even if you do not.

FIXING UP the eyes to convert from a day look to a night look, or to just enhance them late at night, try this. Add a pearly shadow in the inner corner of the eye, and some eye liner and mascara and you will look fresh and ready to go. DO NOT add more powder shadow as this can look caked.

THE RIGHT COLOR - Below I found an eye chart to help give you ideas for those perfect eyes --  that "CD blue" just doesn't cut it anymore!

If your eyes are brown...

Try pearly white for day...
A shadow like Elizabeth Arden Eye shadow in Moonbeam ($10 - elizabetharden.com) makes eyes look just-took-a-nap bright.
... and copper for night
Learn the value of a penny shade! Cover Girl 1-Kit in Autumn Sunset ($3, at drugstores) looks rich and sophisticated and works with any outfit.

If your eyes are hazel...

Try mocha for day …
Play up hazel eyes without drowning them in color with a soft shade like Tony & Tina Color Frequency in Affirmation ($14, tonytina.com).
...and dark teal for night
Chanel Shadowlights in Comet ($22,
800-550-0005) is every bit as sultry as charcoal, but a whole lot softer.

If your eyes are blue...
Try burgundy for day...
Surprise! It's not just for lips. Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Kiss ($14, urbandecay.com) makes blue eyes look bolder.
...and olive for night
A khaki with silver flecks, like the one in Yves Saint Laurent Eye Shadow Quartet in Sensual Brown ($42, 800-723-2889), sparkles up your baby blues.

If your eyes are green...
Try plum for day...
The red tones in warm purples like Estee Lauder Holiday Dramatic Palette ($35, esteelauder.com) set off jade eyes.
... and pewter for night
Where there's smoky shadow, there's fire: The silver shade in Dior's 5-Colour Compact in Street Casual ($49, sephora.corn) is hot, hot, hot!
