I
received an email
from Robert Knight about a post I made and I felt compelled to
respond.
January
25, 2006 First, I would like to
thank you for taking the time to respond to my earlier email. In most
cases I don’t get responses, and of those I do get it is simply to tell
me that they are right, I am wrong, and if I have any doubts that I should
buy their book. I should note that
Transsexuality and homosexuality communities are varied and diverse onto
themselves. I agree that there is not yet any definitive all encompassing
proof, however, the book by Zhou
J.-N, Hofman M.A, Gooren L.J, Swaab D.F “ A Sex Difference in the
Human Brain and its Relation to Transsexuality (1997 ) states, “gender
identity develops as a result of an interaction between the developing
brain and sex hormone.” It
goes on to present evidence that there is a physical difference in certain
areas of the brain between M > F transsexuals and men.
Researcher Brian
Mustanski PhD (a psychologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago) in
regard to homosexuality said: “It builds on previous studies that have consistently
found evidence of genetic influence on sexual orientation.” (Fox
News ,com Jan 28, 2005) You make a blanket
statement that “ Homosexuality is a detour from natural, God-given
sexuality,” even though it is found throughout the animal kingdom.
So, where is your scientific evidence? The difficulty I have
with some anti-gay, anti-trans advocates is when someone like Peter LaBarbera makes broad statements about an entire community
of people based on his clandestine visit to a few underground seedy bars.
If I went to all the major cities and went to the seedy underground
straight sex bars, wouldn’t I find the same? There are 40,000 post
operative transsexuals living in the United States, and most you would
never find in a seedy bar, or even recognize as a transsexual if you
passed them on the street. They are secretaries, doctors, authors, recording artists,
models, and a wide array of blue and white-collar workers. Having
previously been a nightlife journalist for New York City for four years, I
mixed with a wide variety of people from all different groups, including
the GLBT and mainstream. From my experience each has their share of the
good, the bad and the ugly. When you shoot me a
laundry list of why we as a society should steer people away from being
who they are, you can spin that info anyway that suits your need.
Depression, anxiety and suicide are high in the GLBT community,
true. But if you researched further you would learn that most of them
can’t deal with a society, friends or family that denies them the right
to choose their own life and be who they are and are forced to live a lie. You may get a better
understanding of my thoughts here: http://www.brieaustin.com/Essays/divorcerates.htm,

respond I am always interested and willing to listen. Sincerely, Brianna Austin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As
always, be happy, be safe, and think pretty.
