A Quiet Dream

By Brianna Austin

In a quiet dream I was suddenly gone: she appeared and assumed my place. She is soft to the touch, feminine as a woman should be, and she comforts and soothes my scars.

I live in her embrace where spontaneous laughter fills the air. And I find courage to go were few dare, the outer realm of the mind is my playground.  It has to be for no one will let me play in their house, the place where their souls resides.

Such wild adventures I discover, she and I are partners in exploration. Her splendor is simple and easy. I can’t help but give chase, watching for a clue of how it all works. But it seems to be simple things that give her joy; the sway in her walk, a woman’s scent, such playful talk.

Could I ever live so effortlessly?  As I remove her face from mind I struggle for understanding.
