How I Spent My Summer

E-mail Print PDF

As some of you know, after six years off shore in Buenos Aires Argentina, I was back in New York City from June 2010 to September 2011.

The year went by pretty quick, but I stayed involved.

It was great seeing some old friends, and on my next trip I will try to meet up with new online friends as well.

I did get the chance during that time to get out to a few nightspots, such as the Townhouse piano bar, The Dulplex piano bar, Ina's TG Party, the new location of Lips on E. 56th street.

There were some new shows that I attended and reviewed (Judy & Liza, Rent, Richard Skipper as Carol Channing).  Events that I attended included Invasion of the Pines 2011, the Wedding Expo -- where I had a chance to get out as Brianna and model a bridesmaid dress, and test out My Real Breasts,  and I even took the time to step in at the guest Editor's desk for the transgender segment of the show Pitch.

But most of my time was involved in converting TGLIFE.com from a magazine into a social network, doing a slight makeover on BriannaAustin.com, building and  launching the new magazine TGREPORTER.com, setting up all the Facebook pages for those sites and re-launching the Newsletter.

At the same time my non-TG business deal -- that brought me to NYC in the first place in June 2010 -- crashed and burned.  So I found myself broke,  homeless and stranded and had to start over to launch a new business.  How often does your TG life mix, mingle and/or conflict with your other life?

It was a busy year for me that went by by way too fast.  But all in all I can't complain; well, I could, but usually no one will listen.  Still, I've regrouped and find myself ready for a new year.  In October I relocated to Northern Mexico, where I expect to be for the next 3-6 months.
